E Way Bill System & Recent Amendments in GST Law

The nation-wide e-way bill system is set to be introduced from February 1, 2018. With this, the e-way bill system will be mandatory for all inter-state transactions. Additionally, many State Governments also plan make it applicable on intra-state transactions from February 1, 2018 itself (15 States as per last GST council meeting).

While the date of introduction of e-way bill is just a few days away, the industry as well as transporters are far from ready. Some companies fear that the supplies will come to a standstill if immediate steps are not taken.

Further, a number of issues regarding applicability of e-way bill are still open and yet to be clarified from government’s side.
